Special weather advisories

A heat wave with persistently high temperatures are expected over over the Free State (except over the extreme eastern parts), North-West and in places over the eastern parts of the Northern Cape until Sunday.

Weather forecast and UV index for all provinces Gauteng: Partly cloudy and hot with isolated afternoon thundershowers.

UVB sunburn index: High.

Mpumalanga: Fine and warm to hot becoming partly cloudy with isolated afternoon showers and thundershowers.

Limpopo: Partly cloudy and hot to very hot with isolated afternoon showers and thundershowers over the southern and south-eastern parts.

North-West Province: Very hot in places in the extreme west, otherwise partly cloudy and hot with isolated thundershowers.

Free State: Very hot in the extreme west, otherwise partly cloudy and hot, but warm in places in the east. Isolated showers and thundershowers expected in the northern parts.

Northern Cape: Morning and evening fog patches along the coast where it will be cool, otherwise fine and hot, but very hot in places over the interior. The wind along the coast will be fresh to strong southerly to south-easterly.

Western Cape: Partly cloudy and warm along the south coast, but cloudy in the morning and evening, otherwise fine and hot, but very hot over the Central Karoo. It will be cloudy over the north-eastern interior at first. The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh south-easterly along the south coast, otherwise fresh to strong.

UVB index: Extreme.

Western half of the Eastern Cape: Partly cloudy and hot to very hot, becoming fine in the afternoon. The wind along the coast will be Light to moderate easterly to south easterly, but fresh in the afternoon.

Eastern half of the Eastern Cape: Fine and hot, but partly cloudy and warm with isolated showers and thundershowers along and south of the escarpment. The wind along the coast will be Light to moderate north easterly, becoming fresh to strong in the afternoon.

KwaZulu-Natal: Cloudy in the morning with fog over the interior, otherwise partly cloudy and warm but hot in places in the north. Isolated afternoon showers and thundershowers are expected, except in the extreme north-east. The wind along the coast will be gentle to moderate north-easterly becoming Page 3 of 3 fresh in the afternoon.
