HBS TEAM GROWS BIGGER AND BETTER - 01/06/2014 For much of the four-year FIFA World Cup planning cycle, HBS numbers between approximately 50 and 150 employees split between its offices in Switzerland, France and the organising country - in this case Brazil. But in the weeks and months before the actual tournament, literally thousands of new and returning staff members join the company, put on their blue shirts, and become fundamental parts of the host broadcast operation.

In order to ensure a shared knowledge base regarding both the project and the host country they are now semi-permanent residents of, all staff arriving in Brazil are provided a training and orientation session. HBS has made these training and orientation sessions a key part of its best practices since its very first FIFA World Cup in 2002. Topics covered include components of the host broadcast such as the camera plan and multi-feeds, but also tips about local culinary recommendations, health and safety advice, etc., providing staff members with enough information to feel comfortable and confident embarking upon their new adventure.

With 11 days to go before the Opening Match in Sao Paulo, over 600 HBS staff have already made their way through the training and orientation sessions, with many more scheduled for the coming days.
