STG Mediaplex Chooses PlayBox Technology AirBox Neo for New OTT Streaming TV Channel

STG Mediaplex, one of Thailands most active television content providers, has chosen a complete AirBox Neo playout and TitleBox graphics generation system for a new high-definition television channel. The channel will be streamed to viewers via OTT service provider AIS Doonee which is also based in Bangkok.

AirBox Neo is easy to operate, versatile and backed by very good technical support from PlayBox Technology Thailand, says STG Mediaplex CEO Jatuphol Suteesathaporn. The new system is performing excellently and proving very helpful to our business. We already operate three satellite television channels. This new addition offers a variety of Hollywood content on multi-platform devices via broadband mobile networks. It is our first OTT channel and I am confident we will be introducing more.

We have provided a complete channel-in-a-box solution which streams direct from its IP output to the AIS network, details Apichart Prugtayanon, project manager of PlayBox Technology reseller Central Solution Company Limited. AirBox Neo enables STG Mediaplex to create and maintain its own channel branding using the TitleBox Neo character generation module and to schedule live or archived content for playout.

IP streaming has become an important aspect of the broadcast business given the huge popularity of IP-connected television viewing, adds PlayBox Technology president Don Ash. Our Neo and CloudAir product ranges are equally suitable for terrestrial, satellite and online playout. It is gratifying to see sustained demand for our range of solutions in the APAC region as well as in the EMEA and American markets.

Supporting UHD, HD and SD playout, AirBox Neo is designed for 24/7 unattended operation and can also be operated manually, including the ability to handle live-to-air throughput. Parallel outputs enable the running of two or more SDI or IP streaming SD/HD feeds simultaneously. Changes to the playlist can be made during an on-air session. Clips in the playlist, except the one which is currently playing, can be trimmed, edited or repositioned. Playback order can be performed seamlessly without stopping the current playout session. Live productions are facilitated by a live show clipboard which allows insertion and/or execution of various events or live streams.

TitleBox Neo provides a wide range of interactive on-air graphics and titling capabilities which can be manipulated live. The feature set includes horizontal crawling text, vertically rolling credits and messages, still and animated logo graphics, analogue and digital clocks, banner slideshows and chat text with automated horizontal or vertical scrolling. Among the additional creative facilities are pre-constructed graphic components, video resizing (from live source or file), window-style display and website content ingest.
