Suppliers awarded: ZEI Presents Supplier Award to RUAG Schweiz AG and Schmolz + Bickenbach Distributions GmbH

ZEISS has honored the space division of the company RUAG Schweiz AG and D sseldorfer Schmolz Bickenbach Distributions GmbH with the Supplier Award of the Semiconductor Manufacturing Technology business group. The award for outstanding achievements was presented during the 7th Suppliers Day with the theme "Growing together." The two companies achieved the highest score in the annual supplier assessment. "RUAG Space and Schmolz Bickenbach support us reliably with first-class deliveries for the production of semiconductor production equipment and all with a sharp customer focus. Fully in line with this years theme, we have grown together constantly with these partners in recent years," said Dr. Hermann Gerlinger, Executive Board Member of Carl Zeiss AG and President and CEO of Carl Zeiss SMT GmbH, in his speech.

Schmolz Bickenbach has received the Supplier Award for the second time after 2011. Dr. Hendrik Seliger, Vice President Supply Chain Management of the ZEISS Semiconductor Manufacturing Technology business group, comments: "Schmolz Bickenbach supplies us with materials of particularly high quality in a very professional manner. We also value their keen awareness of the needs and special features of the semiconductor market." Martin Gruber, Head of Schmolz Bickenbach Distributions GmbH, sees the award as both a mark of recognition and a challenge at the same time: "We have had a trusting partnership with ZEISS for the past ten years and have implemented an ongoing optimization process. Receiving the award for a second time honors these achievements and the added value that we offer."

RUAG Space also tops this years supplier assessment. As its name suggests, the company originates in the space business, but quickly adapted the needs of the semiconductor industry. "RUAG Space looks for new solutions for us in a proactive way and has proven to be both an innovative and reliable partner," says Seliger. Dr. Holger Wentscher, Senior Vice President of RUAG Space Switzerland, said: "The award shows that our space products also meet the highest standards on the earth. ZEISS is a very demanding customer with whom we will also be pleased to work in the future."

The Supplier Award is part of the SUCCESS strategic supplier management program. The performance figures from 2013 were used as the basis for the assessment. SUCCESS classifies all suppliers strategically, regularly evaluates their performance and is enhanced on an ongoing basis. The strategic suppliers meet every year at the Suppliers Day. This year around 100 representatives attended the event in Oberkochen.
