The Presidency of South Africa has announced more than 500 officials have been convicted for corruption.

According to a post on Facebook, the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) has seen more than 500 corruption cases. All of these have received a successful conviction.

Presidency: More than 500 officials convicted for corruption According to the Presidency, more than 500 government officials have been convicted.

More than 800 private corruption cases were also seen through by the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA).

The announcement comes as part of a five-year plan by government, which aims to end State Capture and corruption.

More posts on the Presidency's Facebook page points to new appointments by the Directorate of Priority Crime Investigation (also known as the Hawks).

The review tracks the progress made by associated governmental agencies.
