A Spectator s Guide to the 06 GoPro Mountain Games

The 2016 GoPro Mountain Games are in full-swing here in Vail, Colorado. The event kicked off yesterday with the top SUP, kayaking, mountain biking, and slacklining athletes in the world converging on the Vail Valley. As Day 2 is winding down, the games are in full swing. More than 60,000 spectators are expected to descend onto the town of Vail to watch all of the action. With more than $100,000 in cash prizes on the line, the Games will be one for the books.

The event spans throughout the Valley, as spectators can wander east to watch dogs of all kinds fling themselves off a raised dock into a giant pool in the Dockdogs Speed Retrieve, Dockdogs Extreme Vertical, and Dockdogs Outdoor Big Air competitions. On the north side, visitors will find slackline superstars toeing the line across the river. You might even find GoPro athlete Dane Jackson whipping out a McNasty in the rapids underneath.

Farther north on Meadow Drive, you'll find kids of all ages crushing it on the slackline. If you head south to Mountain Plaza and you'll be sure to run into the 15-foot bouldering wall. The bouldering event at Mountain Games is a special one. In fact, the event, the IFSC Climbing World Cup, is the only World Cup Bouldering event held on U.S. soil. If you have time, hike up on the hill and even play a round of Frisbee golf. Whatever way you choose to spend your time at the 2016 GoPro Mountain Games, you'll be in for a rad time.

Mountain Games bands film live performances which are streamed to TVs outside the van where camp chairs and bean bags will be set up with snacks and beer.
