Stelio Savante lands crucial role in the indie Windsor

Veteran South African actor and former Capetonian Stelio Savante has landed a crucial role in the indie Windsor. Stelio Savante joins Nick Krause (The Descendants, Parenthood), Quinn Shepard (Unaccompanied Minors, Hostages), Emmy nominee Barry Corbin (Anger Management, No Country For old Men) and Marc Derwin (The Secret Life Of The American Teenager, Accepted) in the cast of Windsor. Principle photography starts late July in Gainesville, Texas.

Savante recently wrapped several projects. Including a supporting role in BAFTA winner Peter Greenaways new film Eisenstein In Guanajuato, a role on the new HBO show Togetherness, directed by the Duplass Bros, and on the Los Angeles indie Pacific Standard Time opposite Arrows Willa Holland and Chronicles Alex Russell.

A SAG Nominee for his role in Ugly Betty, he is best known to South African audiences for his role in A Million Colours. Durban was the location of his most recent South African film, Where The Road Runs Out, currently signing for US distribution. In US cinemas, he was most recently seen in the award winning indie Awakened and on the small screen in J.J. Abrams Person Of Interest opposite Jim Caviezel.

As producer he is known in the New York and Los Angeles theater communities for heading the 9.11 Celebrity Benefit play 110 Stories. Starring opposite the likes of James Gandolfini, Katie Holmes, Samuel L Jackson, Melissa Leo, Cynthia Nixon, Jeremy Piven and Susan Sarandon while raising money for charities like the Red Cross, The Gary Sinise Foundation and Operation Gratitude. He has also had his own one act play Venom produced Off Broadway and nominated for Samuel Frenchs Love Creek Festival. Currently hes producing his own feature screenplay Trust In Her, which includes actors Jon Heder and Michael Beach and is repped by Jay Cohen, Gersh agency partner.

He recently opened up about his ongoing battle with Celiac disease which attacked his organs and required an immediate lifestyle change.
