IPO at DISCOP Africa --

The independent Producers Organisation (IPO) through the support of DISCOP, Joburg Film Festival (JFF) and Gauteng Film Commission (GFC) will from 2 to 4 November 2016 participate at DISCOP Africa.
Launched in 2009, DISCOP Africa is an audiovisual content distribution, programming, and coproduction market that targets free and pay television services operators from 47 Sub-Saharan African countries.
For the duration of the market, the Independent Producers Organisation, represented by its Chairperson Akin Omotoso and Executive members will engage both stakeholders and producers through sessions that entail one-on-one meetings, workshops as well as open mic sessions.
We are thrilled to be part of this event that promises to grow the industry even further through its immense opportunities offered to African producers. Collaboration is one of the key elements to reaching the success we envisage in the transformation of the industry, representation, protection and promotion of the interests and needs of our member producers. We are therefore grateful of the partnerships we have built with DISCOP, Joburg Film Festival as well as Gauteng Film Commission in ensuring that our objectives are realised, says Akin Omotoso IPO chairperson.
The IPO s first event will take place on the 2nd of November with IPO Deputy Chairperson Bongiwe Selane presenting on the Women in Film & Television Session. The session, aimed at providing insights on issues affecting women producers working in a male- dominated environment will be held at the Main Theatre. This will be followed by Akin Omotoso s sessions titled JFF Open Mic with Akin Omotoso which takes place later on the day at 16:00 and on 3rd November from 16:00 until 17:00. JFF Open Mic with Akin Omotoso has been scheduled to take place at the Sandton Convention Centre.
The IPO continues to endeavour towards a positive change in the industry through its representation of producers, and various stakeholder engagements. Through its monthly sessions IPO Presents , the organisation is succeeding in leading dialogues that would guarantee that producers, particularly black producers triumph in becoming accomplished film and television business owners. The organisation recently held a successful conference that was aimed at mapping the way forward on issues regarding policy, strategy and transformation.
