Arqiva and Freesat renew 10-year digital satellite transmission partnership

UK, London, 06 December 2017: Arqiva, the leading UK communications infrastructure and media services provider, today announced the 8-year extension of its contract to deliver fibre data collection and uplink services for digital satellite television service Freesat.

Arqiva's services facilitate the transmission of the Freesat Home Transponder, a data service available on a satellite at 28 degrees east, which enables Freesat's Electronic Programme Guide (EPG) to function.

The deal extends a 10-year partnership between the two companies, which dates back to the launch of the free-to-air television service as a joint venture between the BBC and ITV in 2007.

As Freesat evolves to meet the demands of a changing digital landscape, the continuation of its agreement with Arqiva means that its 2 million homes will receive a seamless service for years to come.
