On 2 September, the European Space Agency is launching astronaut Andreas Mogensen into space. On the same day, Michael Madsen s new film, The Visit - An Alien Encounter, will have its premiere screenings in multiple countries. In South Africa, Durban will host the premiere screening event at Suncoast Cinema 6. Entrance is free.

The evening of the event will involve a panel discussion and Skype interview with Mogensen which will be live-streamed from an emergency military bunker in Denmark before the premiere screening of the film.

Audiences from all participating venues can ask questions to the panel via mobile phone texting, Facebook and Twitter. The panel consists of professor in space engineering at the International Space University, Chris Welch (also starring in the film); director Michael Madsen; and futurologist. Danish astronaut Mogensen, who will depart for the International Space Station, orbiting around the Earth, on the same day.

The Visit An Alien Encounter is a scientific and philosophical documentary-like, feature film about humankinds approach to the unknown, explored through the hypothetical visit of intelligent alien life. The United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs in Vienna, as well as leading scientists fromNational Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) , European Space Agency (ESA), and the International Space University (ISU) present their expertise, knowledge and insecurities about how to tackle such an event. The film builds up a chilling, but believable scenario of first contact on Earth, beginning with the simplest of questions: Why are you here? How do you think? What do you see in humans that we don t see in ourselves?
