LIGHT READING AND SCTE/ISBE TEAM UP
FOR ENERGY 2020 CONTENT CREATION AND DISTRIBUTION
JUNE 15, 2016 (New York, NY, and Exton, PA)-Light Reading, the Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers (SCTE), and SCTE's global arm, the International Society of Broadband Experts (ISBE), announced a new partnership today that is intended to help the cable industry achieve the cost reduction and environmental goals of SCTE/ISBE's Energy 2020 program.
The new agreement calls for Light Reading and SCTE/ISBE to work together to produce a wide range of educational and informational content, including: webinars; reports; videos; bylined articles; white papers; blogs; and other multimedia materials. Light Reading and SCTE/ISBE will jointly identify topics that align with Energy 2020 program developments; Light Reading will assume the primary role in producing the portfolio of media materials.
SCTE/ISBE's willingness to take the energy bull by the horns is driving the type of technology and operational innovation that is essential for Light Reading's audiences, said Steve Saunders, CEO and Founder of Light Reading. By working with SCTE/ISBE to create a dedicated flow of information, we have the ability to elevate the visibility of energy management techniques across all of our Light Reading communities.
Energy 2020's global importance to our industry and the communities we serve requires a partner that can leverage technical understanding, multiplatform content distribution and international scale, said Mark Dzuban, president and CEO of SCTE/ISBE. Our partnership with Light Reading will advance awareness of how cable's energy management efforts can contribute to both business outcomes and environmental quality.
The Energy 2020 partnership will kick off with a series of video interviews this summer. The video series will consist of interviews with senior executives of SCTE/ISBE, cable operators and technology partners; interviews will focus on energy-saving technologies, projects and procedures that are being developed and deployed by the industry.
Energy 2020 brings together cable operator and vendor expertise to create alignment on standards and operational practices, to drive design and implementation of equipment, and to create SCTE/ISBE training resources that will enable workforce teams to optimize technology for maximum efficiency. Energy 2020 is targeting the following goals by the end of the decade: reduction of power consumption by 20% on a unit basis; energy cost reduction by 25% on a unit basis; reduction of grid dependency by 10%; and optimization of the technical facilities and datacenters footprint by 20%.
