Can broadcasters get real benefit from Cloud Computing?

Are you attending this year's IBC? If so, there's one panel session you should be marking your cards with now.

Our very own David Peto will be attending the four-day conference in Amsterdam and will be taking part in a panel discussion on Friday 12th September around how broadcasters can really benefit from Cloud Computing.

As Aframe's CEO, it goes without saying that David is a huge advocate of the value the cloud can bring to broadcasters; he will be joining a discussion alongside other panellists from IBC, Adobe, Softlayer and Vizrt.

Cloud has been a big topic for the last couple of years and was one of the most talked about subjects at IBC in 2013, with many broadcasters and media companies either running trials, or developing initial plans to embrace the cloud. This year has been no different as adoption continues to increase, although we are seeing the conversation shifting to focus on some of the lessons these early adopters have learned from their cloud implementations.

As such, the panel debate will highlight issues such as the security of content hosted on remote servers, and the marriage of broadcast skills/equipment with those from the IT world. The session will also go into detail about the practicalities behind the cloud hype and will offer up the opportunity to question the panellists about their experiences and lessons they want to impart to ensure broadcasters get maximum benefit from their cloud implementations.
