Storyland airs on RT Television for the first time

This year Storyland - devised to develop and showcase great local drama - comes to RT television for the first time, with three new single dramas airing on RT 2 and RT Player at 9.30pm on 20th October, 27th October and 3rd November.

Storyland brings original stories to a national and global audience, showcasing the breadth of Ireland's creative talent across writing, producing, directing and acting. There was an unprecedented number of Storyland applications this year, with RT working with Screen Ireland in partnership and collaboration to grow the Irish drama sector.

David Crean, Acting Head of Drama, RT , said: For the first time on RT 2 and RT Player, we are delighted to be able to launch three new single Storyland dramas for our audiences. All projects were developed in partnership with Screen Ireland as part of our ongoing commitment to deliver opportunities for new writers, producers, and directors in the Irish TV drama sector.

Andrew Byrne, Head of Television at F s ireann/Screen Ireland, said: We are delighted to continue working with RT on the Storyland initiative, part of Screen Ireland's continued commitment to supporting and developing opportunities for creative talent in TV drama. The three projects receiving their broadcast premiere this month represent great storytelling and the diverse and original voices emerging from our sector at the moment.

The first drama to air will be Mustard by Eva O'Connor on 20th October. Adapted from Eva's award-winning stage play, this is a hugely imaginative story about substance abuse and self-harm.

On 27th October is contemporary whodunnit Balor Hall by Rioghnach N Ghrioghair. The Devereaux dynasty gather to celebrate patriarch John's 60th birthday. But old grudges are triggered, and murder is on the menu

The final drama, airing on 3rd November, is Every Five Miles by Sin ad Collopy, a powerful story about people trafficking in Ireland.

Mustard is written by Eva O'Connor, produced by Jason Forde, directed by Hildegarde Ryan and starring Eva O'Connor, Pauline O'Driscoll and Daniel Monaghan. The team of Eva and Hildegard have already made the series Overshadowed for BBC3.

Balor Hall is written and directed by Rioghnach N Ghrioghair, produced by Deirdre Levins and starring Carolyn Bracken, Declan Conlon, Derbhle Crotty, Faoileann Cunningham, Ashleigh Dorrell, Fionn Foley, Breffni Holohan, Justine Stafford, Ian Toner and Layla Byrne.

Every Five Miles is written by Sin ad Collopy, produced by Colm n Mac Cionnaith of Vico Films, directed by Vincent Lambe (who received an Oscar nomination for his drama Detainment about the Jamie Bulger killers), and starring Danielle Galligan and Sameer Baloch.
