Close to 1.4 million watch The Late Late Toy Show
01 December 2014: The Late Late Toy Show is the most watched show this year to date, with an average of nearly 1.4 million* Irish people tuning in to see the show.
It also had a reach of over two million** and a share of 71% proving that this years show was a hit with young and old alike.
The Late Late Toy Show proved hugely popular on RT Player for both domestic and international audiences, attracting close to 150,000 streams for the show, clips and extras an increase of 30,000 streams on last year. Of this, over 62,000 streams were by international audiences, with 40% coming from the UK, 16% from the US and 11% from Australia. This year the most watched clips on RT Player was the Chitty Chitty Bang Bang' opening number and Aimee Keogh meeting Ed Sheeran.
Presented by Ryan Tubridy, the theme of this year's show was based on the musical film Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. Ryan wore not one but four jumpers at different stages during the show, which have all been hand knitted by members of the public. This year's Toy Show had a record number of children appearing from all over the country, with over 269 performers and toy testers taking part in the show.
Adrian Lynch, Channel Controller for RT One said: The Late Late Toy Show has become a national event where all generations gather together to enjoy the show and we're delighted that the viewership figures reflect this. A huge amount of work goes into a television production like this and I would like to thank Ryan and the whole Late Late Show team for making this the biggest TV event of the year so far .

As with last year a number of charities were offered the opportunity to nominate children to come in and experience the wonders of The Late Late Toy Show set. The Heart Children Ireland, Laura Lynn Ireland's Children's Hospice, Temple Street Children's Hospital, Central Remedial Clinic and National Rehabilitation Hospital brought children in to RT and their time on set was captured and screened during Fridays show.
