Dynamic Broadcasting: A revolution for broadcasting? Ulrich Reimers (TUBS, Former Chair DVB Technical Module) DVB shown in World 2013 convinced that Germany will not adopt the DVB-T2 but to prefer hybrid alternatives over LTE networks.

The second day of the DVB World 2013 began with a survey in which participants have been asked whether there will be considered a new medium-term future of digital terrestrial television systems, lets say a DVB-T3 ... The 60% is convinced that there will be such an advance.

Ulrich Reimers (TUBS, Former Chair DVB Technical Module) has referred to the inability of Germany, a country with very strong cable presence and little relevance of DTT, adopt the DVB-T2. Reimers was asked about the likelihood that this decision by the big broadcasters like RTL Germans could cause a domino effect across Europe.

One option would be shuffling the Germans would use the UHF spectrum to develop a concept of Dynamic Broadcasting. This would be a combination of the concept of DTT we have today and the new LTE networks. Another option would be to use multicast Internet (eMBMS) but would encounter the obstacle of speed differences in receiving presents each user data.

Reimers concluded by assuring that there is a proven technology yet to provide equivalent services to broadcasting: ni ni unicast LTE eMBMS.

This expert would lean more to a solution that has called Tower Overlay over LTE, that would use the DVB-T2 as a carrier LTE

Ulrich presented a new configuration called Tower on LTE overlay, which may be able to provide solution. DVB-T2 could act as a carrier for LTE. Some band plans have been devised which could accommodate this.
