Talk Story from the North Shore: Surfing, Hawaii and GoPro
During this year's Vans Triple Crown on Oahus North Shore, GoPro hosted a Talk Story at SURFER the Bar to reminisce, relive, and ultimately celebrate the surfing. With a host of GoPro surf athletes from Hawaii and the world abroad passing the mic, the audience played witness to a rare gathering of surfing's elite in an intimate setting.
In addition to the Talk Story panel, GoPro also screened the GoPro Challenge nominees from the first ever all-female GoPro Challenge, during the Target Maui Pro. Check it out below!

The womens panel was filled with standout female content producers. GoPro athlete and Hana native Monyca Eleogram discussed what a typical drive to the office is like, as she lives in a very remote part of Maui. Filmmaker Leah Dawson talked about how GoPro helps her to become a self-producer and filmmaker, further helping to share her story with the world. Past GoPro Challenge winner, Tatiana Weston-Webb relived the exciting moment in her career when she won the GoPro Challenge in Fiji against all the guys on tour. The ladies wrapped up their conversations with topics surrounding challenges and opportunities for women in sport today,and what they can do to better promote women in sports, being role models for young girls growing up.
The second panel was a stacked line up of nearly the entire GoPro mens surf team, including Hawaiian surf royalty and clear leaders in the sport. Attendees included Anthony Walsh, Jamie OBrien, Sunny Garcia, Kalani Robb, Kamalei Alexander, Kala Alexander, Kalani Chapman, Chris Ward and Kelly Slater.
GoPros own Brad Schmidt led the discussion with topics ranging from GoPro of the World and the competitive nature it takes to win the large cash prize to the future of contest surfing and how GoPro plays a part in the coverage of the on board angles; how watching GoPro surf content helps athletes break down their technical movements in turn making them better surfers; the importance of social media exposure; and the difference of shooting photo and video with tips and tricks for each from the worlds best users and producers.
