Mobile Viewpoint launches new suite of cellular video uplink solutions at NAB2019 posted: 20/03/2019
BaseLink 2.0, DataLink and TerraLink Mini-M solutions support the low cost delivery of video over IP
Mobile Viewpoint, a leader in IP contribution solutions, today announced that it will be launching a new suite of pocket-sized bonding units at this year's NAB Show. Mobile Viewpoint's BaseLink 2.0, DataLink and TerraLink Mini-M support the low cost delivery of video over IP, using a combination of SRT technology, fast store-and-forward switching, and cellular bonding.
As demand for live video continues to grow-especially live news and sports broadcasting-broadcasters and content producers need technology that supports the instant, real-time delivery of content. Mobile Viewpoint's latest suite of bonding units allow broadcasters and content producers to capture, upload and live stream content as close to real-time as possible, while substantially reducing contribution costs.
BaseLink 2.0
BaseLink 2.0 is an uplink solution that enables broadcasters and content producers to transmit live video from any location. BaseLink 2.0 supports H.265 and H.264 encoding, and transmits live video up to 1080p60-delivering a fast, high quality video experience. It has four integrated 4G modems (which can be upgraded to support six 4G modems), as well as Wi-Fi and ethernet connections, and will support future 5G networks.
To accelerate store and forward, BaseLink 2.0 uses Mobile Viewpoint's Continuous Picture Technology (CPT), which takes transmission time and available bandwidth into consideration to ensure the highest quality video possible is delivered. CPT ensures all content is transferred as quickly as possible, and meets a preferred or defined time schedule-important for news broadcasters, who need to deliver content before the next news bulletin. With BaseLink 2.0, broadcasters and content producers can also use QR scanning functionality to add additional information to the video files, outside of the file name-such as project name, or name of the programme, for example.
Mobile Viewpoint has designed BaseLink 2.0 to be thin and compact-and is small enough to fit onto the back of a camera. The new, agile streaming solution can be used for applications outside of traditional live broadcast such as news and sports, in applications such as eSports, or for blogging. BaseLink's fast file transfer also means it supports content producers that need to store and forward video after recording.
DataLink
DataLink is a portable internet hotspot, giving broadcasters and content producers a high bandwidth internet connection anywhere in the world. Supporting up to 200Mbit of data bonding, as well as four mobile networks-including LAN and Wi-Fi-via its built-in modems, DataLink uses the bonded bandwidth of all available IP connections simultaneously to provide enormous upload speeds.
DataLink is housed in aluminium casing, and can be managed via the unit's touchscreen. The solution can also be managed and controlled by Mobile Viewpoint's LinkMatrix web-based video management platform.
TerraLink Mini-M
With integrated, ethernet, Wi-Fi and external USB modems, TerraLink Mini-M supports the transmission of live video. It bridges the gap between a laptop and a full-size bonding encoder, and can be used either as a backup solution, or as a standalone encoder as part of a Broadband Global Area Network (BGAN) or High Dynamic Range (HDR) package. The unit has two modems to support 3G, 4G and 5G cellular connections, as well as an internal, removable battery unit.
Live video continues to thrive-live news broadcasting is more important today than ever before, but the growing demand for live sports, as well as esports, is pushing live video higher up broadcasters and content producers' agendas, said Michel Bais, CEO of Mobile Viewpoint. Our new range of bonding solutions supports broadcasters and content producers of all sizes, ensuring they have the connections, and the underlying technology, that supports the delivery of live content-making sure video is high quality, and as close to real-time as possible.
Mobile Viewpoint will be exhibiting BaseLink 2.0, DataLink and TerraLink Mini-M at NAB Show, taking place between 8 - 11 April 2019, on stand C3307.
