Akamai delivers eMedia content

eMedia Network has implemented Akamai Technologies' Media Delivery Solutions to deliver broadcast-quality video and radio content on its OTT/IPTV platform, iON.

eMedia specialises in digital video broadcasting, distribution and monetisation of multicultural television and radio content, and its shift to Akamai has reportedly helped eMedia gain subscribers and partners, as well as reach new audiences.

We are serving a small, niche market so quality is key because the community talks. If we do not offer the best service, in time, no one will watch our programming, said Mark Lobwein, executive chairman of eMedia Network.

Delivering over 100 linear channels, eMedia will utilise Akamai Media Services Live and Adaptive Media Delivery. The latter is designed to ensure content is delivered at optimal quality, whilst automatically adjusting to multiple network types and varying connection speeds.

Akamai's cloud-based Netstorage also allows eMedia partners to offer catch-up and on-demand services.
