Broadcast Academy launches beginner level course at EVS HQ in Belgium posted: 19/07/2019

The Broadcast Academy, the training and legacy unit of host broadcast specialist HBS, in partnership with EVS, has launched activities in Belgium with the Live Sports Direction module. The course, to take place at EVS' headquarters in Li ge, on 30 September-4 October 2019, will target newcomers to the sports broadcasting field who wish to drive their career forward.

A growing demand for training programmes aimed at those just beginning their journey in sports broadcasting has been recognised and identified from industry feedback, following the Academy's delivery of Live Sports Direction' courses for professionals and unions across various regions. The Beginner Level course responds to that need and offers such candidates the opportunity to acquire further skills and exposure by being trained by world-class experts.

The beginner level course reinforces our commitment to invest in the next generation, so that in the future we have a diverse pool of talent , explained Ekta Hutton, Broadcast Academy Manager. To that effect, we would like this programme to take place every year.

For EVS, whose technology has been used to power the Academy's Live Sports Direction courses around the world, it offers an opportunity to bring the experience back home. We are pleased to host the training programme for newcomers, which is aligned with the latest technology and will equip each trainee with confidence to manage future assignments , said Nicolas Bourdon, Marketing & Communications Director, EVS.

The trainees taking part on the course will benefit from practical sessions on the Live TV Simulator, which replicates an outside broadcast environment. The session is given an essence of HBS' global sports production expertise by the involvement of trainer John Watts - a master of broadcasting at major international events.

In addition to the new course in Belgium, the Academy will again run its annual and successful training courses in the UK and France in 2020. Widely popular amongst the broadcasting community, the Live Sports Direction' courses will take place in at the National Film and Television School (NFTS), Beaconsfield, UK while the EVS' offices in Paris will host the course in France.

John Watts will lead the NFTS programme, targeting broadcast professionals who have already gathered an intermediate level of experience. The programme in Paris will focus on advanced level professionals, with Laurent Lachand as the training expert.

Broadcast Academy training programmes put practical experience first, enabling industry-based training delivered by professional experts.
