Prime Time News Producer

Producing both Prime Time bulletins and taking them to air, Liaising with reporters, video editors, library/archives and the technical crew, Assisting with graphics, stings and general look of show, Liaising with FCC and Studio Crew both in Cape Town and Johannesburg

Liaising with Logistics to ensure feeds occur timeously

Working in conjunction with Output Editors, Prime Time Producer and News Editors

Writing, translating and subbing local and international stories when required

Ensuring technical integrity of bulletins

Build and time bulletins

Perform quality control checks on video material

Prepare rundowns for Live crossings and guests when necessary

Requirements:

A formal journalism qualification

Excellent command of the English language

Mother-tongue fluency in isiXhosa

Minimum three years journalism experience in broadcasting

Excellent ability to translate television news scripts from English to isiXhosa.

An exceptional grasp of current affairs

Good editorial judgement and interpretational skills

Ability to work meticulously under extreme pressure

Functional knowledge of broadcast technology and control room operations

A can-do attitude that seeks solutions

Excellent interpersonal skills

Well-developed sense of responsibility and ability to work without supervision

Willingness to work irregular hours including weekends and public holidays
