Qube Cinema has launched QubeCast, a new server multicast that provides an efficient distribution of Digital Cinema Package (DCP) satellite and broadband networks. QubeCast is mainly designed for the wide distribution of films to cinemas, including those which exhibit in remote locations or without reliable high-speed data connections. QubeCast is based on the innovative Qualcomm RaptorQ FEC.

Qualcomm Technologies Forward Error Correction (FEC) technology distribute quickly via satellite films, even when there is no return data channel. Technology provides an efficient and reliable alternative for the DCP distribution and monitoring of their state networks of cinemas.

By QubeCast, the showrooms around the world can receive the satellite DCP. Its user interface (UI) web-based allows safe transmissions to be started remotely and allows cinemas administrators to manage the general State of the system as well as the status of each client transmission. Qualcomm RaptorQ FEC technology guarantees the delivery requires multiple screens simultaneously with one or two tracks return channels either. The use of the return path allows client servers report on the State of the transmission, but since the FEC is applied to the signal before transmission, QubeCast can correct the data loss even in the multicast one-way links.

Michel Luby, Vice President technology at Qualcomm Technologies, has ensured that "Qualcomm RaptorQ technology is a good example of compelling technology that Qualcomm is pushing to help with the bandwidth of the network and meet the challenge of data from 1000 x, apart hope to continue collaborating with Qube Cinema to allow your multicast server to be used by more segments".

Large-scale, send the DCP through satellite or broadband networks is more efficient than using conventional technology based on IP as the file transfer protocol. QubeCast carries out monitoring of each file that goes to every screen in every place and shows this in his State of UI. On the other hand it gives follow-up when the file has been swallowed by the server. Each of these phases can be monitored from a central web-based control panel. Qualcomm RaptorQ protects against the loss of data, at the same time that minimizes the amount of additional data need to be sent.

"Through channels from a single multicast via eliminates the need for much feedback from the client servers on the data receiving." This reduces costs and allows the transmission to an enormous number of cinemas simultaneously", said Senthil Kumar, co-founder of Qube Cinema.

QubeCast is already deployed in the Qube Cinema network with more than 1,600 theaters to the length and breadth of India, many of which are in remote locations where there is no Internet connection.

QubeCast is now available in two options. The device mounted in 1RU works with all cinema management systems to serve any number of screens in a place. As an alternative, QubeCast software can reside directly in server group of the chain of cinemas, reducing hardware requirements. Either way, QubeCast uses few resources of the computer and runs in the background, even when a d-cinema server is performing its main function: play the DCP.
