Finals of China (Ningbo) Makers Competition Closed

On the afternoon of September 12, as the highlight of the Smart City Expo, the finals of China (Ningbo) Makers Competition opened at Ningbo International Convention and Exhibition Center. After four hours of fierce competition, 10 teams stood out from the 17 rival teams, winning six major awards respectively, namely, the most investment-worthy award, the venture award, the most potential award, the most powerful award, the best team award and the most creative award. Among them, the most investment-worthy award, which is regarded as the most important, went to the blood collection equipment team.

This contest was jointly sponsored by Young Computer Science and Engineers Forum, China Household Electrical Appliances Association, and the Institute of Computing Technology, Chinese Academy of Science (Ningbo) , and held by the relevant departments of the city together with the maker space. The competition is a national one, with the tutor panel consisting of industry experts, entrepreneurs, and corporate executives, involving three aspects of industry guidance, entrepreneurship training and project financing.

With the theme of Infinite Innovations to Win the Future the competition engaged projects of Internet smart hardware products, smart household appliance products, software products, smart wearable devices, smart robots, the Internet(mobile Internet), new information materials and others since its initiation on April 20. A total number of more than 200 projects signed in for the competition. 17 teams stood out for the finals to vie for the final 10 positions after going through prequalification, regional preliminaries and national resurrection competition.

Many projects were only tentative ideas in the beginning. But in only months' time, the prototype product designs were completed, which was amazing, said Huang Chao, president of Ningbo Institute of Information Technology Application, CAS. Huang pointed out that a notable feature of this competition is that the team is full of entrepreneurial zeal and the projects basically focus on intelligent hardware, boasting high applicability.

Take the blood collection and supply equipment team as an example. In the past, blood collection for clinical purpose needs a lot of consumable items, which led to high cost of supplies. And the team's project specifically provides a solution to avoid the shortcomings of similar products and reduce the costs of supplies in all aspects. What's more, the project has IPRs in method, products consumable and so on.
