VITEC, a worldwide leader in advanced video streaming solutions, today announced it has partnered with Sony to show a live demonstration of their new End-to-End 4K IPTV solution for real-time, multicast distribution of Ultra HD video.
VITEC's MGES-6000 hardware encoding blade ingests 4K content from professional 4K cameras using 4xHD-SDI ports, encodes and streams it over IP. VITEC's turn-key 4K solution also includes a 4K desktop player with SDK that can be integrated into third-party applications for viewing 4K content on desktops, laptops and embedded media platforms. The 100% hardware 4K encoding and streaming solution delivers superb video quality in low delay and is the ideal solution for distribution of 4K content across an Enterprise network and in Sports Stadiums.
VITEC's Media Gateway (MGW) Blade Platforms are known for their carrier-grade design, video quality and built-in redundancy features suitable for delivery of critical content, said Tomer Carmi, Manager of VITEC's IPTV Development Center. This latest development of 4K encoding support using our blade solution positions VITEC as one of few companies that offers hardware-based 4K encoding.
While 4K content is slow to penetrate the consumer market, the use of 4K cameras in live sports events as well as in high-profile enterprise applications is growing rapidly, stated Mark DAddio, Vice President of Business Development and Emerging Markets at VITEC. VITECs IPTV solution for ingest and streaming of 4K content over standard networks enables organizations to distribute 4K footage, cost-effectively, using multicast directly to viewers' screens and to public area 4K TV monitors.
