Sony Electronics continues to advance its professional imaging ecosystem with the latest updates to its Sony Monitor & Control app (ver. 2.6.0) and Catalyst Prepare / Catalyst Prepare Plugin-introducing new capabilities designed to streamline production, enhance collaboration, and deliver greater creative control from capture through post.
Smarter Monitoring and On-Set Efficiency with Monitor & Control v2.6.0 Building on the success of Sony's acclaimed Sony Monitor & Control app is a powerful solution for professional video creators, enabling wired or wireless monitoring and control of single- or multi-camera setups-supporting up to 20 cameras. It is widely used on smartphones, tablets, and Macs for precise focus, exposure, and color adjustments, delivering flexibility and accuracy across a range of production environments.
The latest update (ver. 2.6.0) introduces new recording and audio monitoring features that further streamline on-set workflows. Users can now capture high-resolution video and audio directly to a connected device via HDMI or UVC, enabling instant playback and review without interrupting shooting. These enhancements improve efficiency, collaboration, and real-time decision-making on set.
A newly added on-screen audio level meter allows professionals to monitor both video and sound simultaneously, improving decision-making and reducing the risk of audio issues during live or recorded productions. Additional enhancements-including expanded multi-camera monitoring, increased customizable tool presets from 3 to 6, and a Live View Off function-further improve flexibility and control on set.
Together, these upgrades enable creators to record, review, and verify in real time, reducing production time while improving communication and accuracy across teams.
Enhanced Post-Production Precision with Catalyst Prepare and Plugin Updates Sony's Catalyst tools continue to push the boundaries of post-production efficiency and quality. The latest update introduces Sound Separation, a powerful feature that isolates dialogue, wind noise, and ambient sound into separate tracks-allowing editors to fine-tune audio with unmatched clarity and control directly within their NLE.
This builds on a robust suite of capabilities, leveraging camera metadata including:
Advanced Image Stabilization, to transform handheld footage into smooth, professional-quality video
Horizon Lock, delivering perfectly aligned visuals with automatic tilt correction
Bulk Export with Clip Adjustment, enabling high-volume processing with minimal manual effort
Seamless NLE Integration, allowing advanced corrections directly within Adobe Premiere Pro and DaVinci Resolve without disrupting the editing workflow
These enhancements empower creators to maximize image and audio quality while significantly reducing time spent on technical tasks-freeing them to focus on storytelling and creativity.
