Ericsson positioned in the Leaders Quadrant of the Gartner Magic Quadrant for Small Cells Equipment

Gartner, one of the leading research and advisory companies, has recognized Ericsson as a Leader, placing the company in the Leaders quadrant of the 2018 Magic Quadrant for Small Cells Equipment.

In its 2018 small cell report, Gartner's explains that mobile network operators are meeting subscribers' increased demands through the deployment of small cells. Interest is growing in private enterprise small cell solutions, and 5G is on the horizon.

The report provides a global snapshot of the market and vendors offering small cell equipment and evaluates them based on their completeness of vision and ability to execute. Ericsson believes these results confirm the company's clear, differentiated, and industry-leading small cell vision, which is backed by our customers such as Verizon, China Mobile, China Unicom, and Swisscom as they drive their network transformations and boost overall end-user experience.

Per Narvinger, Head of Product Area Networks, says: We have improved in Completeness of Vision and we're pleased Gartner has recognized our Leadership position in the small cell space.

From the Gartner report: The proliferation of smartphones and increasing availability of high-speed LTE networks, together with higher-usage data plans from operators, are driving increased usage of video and other applications. These factors, in turn, contribute to rapid growth in cellular data traffic and demand for ubiquitous coverage.

Small cells will continue to play an integral role in the addition of capacity and coverage in mobile networks globally, as the industry rolls out 5G and addresses network performance issues.
