SAM unveils its Key Themes at IBC2017 posted: 01/09/2017
At IBC 2017(Hall 9), Snell Advanced Media (SAM) will be demonstrating its IP and remote production solutions, UHD sports production workflows with HDR support, cloud-based playout, multi-format news production and automated monitoring and control products. A major highlight of the booth this year will be Timeline Television's latest UHD2 IP, 4K & HDR OB truck. Supporting SAM's Live Sports Production area will be live graphics specialists, RT Software, with a demonstration of its AR studio products.
Cloud
At IBC, SAM will be demonstrating live channel deployment on AWS. With the launch of the latest ICE SDC, customers can rapidly spin up/down fully featured channels. ICE SDC builds on the market leading functionality of its CiaB sibling. SAM's continued investment in cloud solutions has resulted in an expanded portfolio of products that include high end Alchemist conversion and Multiviewers. SAM's customers are benefitting from the innate elasticity of software deployed cloud services as the industry shifts its business models to match the changing financial dynamics of the media industry.
IP production
SAM will be underlining its market leadership in IP production at this year's IBC with a full range of turnkey IP routing solutions featuring SMPTE 2110 support. SAM's native IP products including multiviewers, processing systems, production and master control switchers featuring 25, 50 and 100GbE interfaces will also be on show. SAM's IP production technology has already been successfully deployed by many customers including BCE in Luxemburg and Vista Studios in Los Angeles. Visitors to the stand will be able to see SAM's ability to seamlessly handle fully uncompressed UHD and HDR signals, on Timeline's new UHD2 truck on the stand.
Remote production over IP
SAM's technology was successfully deployed between Poland and London by UEFA for the world's first uncompressed UHD remote production, which took place during the 2017 UEFA European Under-21 Championship Final earlier this year. The match was held in Poland and SAM delivered an ultra-low latency IP system delivering efficient and cost effective remote production capability back to the production center in London.
For remote editing, SAM's Go! multi-platform editor allows users to view, carry out rough cut edits and finalization from any device in any location for fast breaking news or distributed working during productions.
SAM Vibe - multi-platform news production
SAM Vibe empowers a single production team to create content from any device and for any device; mobile, tablet, laptop and TV, no matter what the aspect ratio, resolution or frame rate.
Vibe provides easy and collaborative/shared workflows all enabled by Go!, SAM's HTML5 browser based editing system, working alongside the powerful Rio editor. This together with a choice of Go! technology embedded within Adobe Premiere, allows users to deliver high quality news content to the web, social media and linear platforms from wherever they are.
UHD sports production with HDR
SAM's Alchemist delivers the world's best standards and frame rate conversion for live events. Alchemist XS perfectly complements the UHD/HDR capabilities of the Kahuna production switchers and LiveTouch multi-format replay system. SAM's products enable seamless multi-format live production and replay with any resolution content across IP, SDI and 12G-SDI domains.
SAM will demonstrate live production workflows that can use any combination of format and resolution - from SD and HD to live 360 UHD and UHD/HDR while publishing to any platform, including social media.
SAM technology was at the heart of BT Sport's first 360/VR UHD production of UEFA Champions League final in June, with the LiveTouch system providing live 360 replays across the broadcaster's linear and online channels. As recently announced by Formula One, SAM technology is central to its UHD and HDR workflow.
Automated Monitoring & Control
SAM will demonstrate its industry leading media content monitoring and control solutions including its pioneering Media Biometrics technology. SAM products deliver unmatched media aware monitoring and assurance for broadcast systems. SAM will also demonstrate intelligent monitoring by exception including its new logo detection technology and schedule aware monitoring.
About SAM
SAM has the vision to deliver business-transforming solutions across the media production ecosystem. Our future-ready systems enable broadcasters, content owners and service providers to evolve their business models to succeed in the consumer-driven era. We understand that it's not only about the future - to get there, today's needs are also paramount; our smart, agile technology maximizes efficiency and productivity in today's rapidly changing media landscape.
