Globo licenses International Emmy-winning dramas to Indonesia and Vietnam

Telenovelas Empire' (2015) and Precious Pearl' (2014) are sure to captivate the Asian audience

Globo will soon premiere two more of its International Emmy-winning titles in Asia. Empire,' winner of the statuette in 2015 for its story about the transformation of the young and humble Jos Alfredo (Alexandre Nero, Looks & Essence') into a powerful jewelry magnate, has just been licensed to Indonesia. Meanwhile, 2014 Emmy winner Precious Pearl,' which tells the beautiful love story between a working-class girl and a millionaire, is set to arrive in Vietnam. Globo has been expanding its presence in Asia in recent years. In 2014, the Brazilian broadcaster signed its first licensing deals with channels in Pakistan, Indonesia, and the Philippines. Australia has also chosen to invest in Globo's dramas. Last year, the telenovela Side by Side', winner of the 2013 Emmy, had its broadcasting rights sold to China. In Empire,' the decline of Jos Alfredo's business; his children's battle over his legacy; the troubled marriage to Maria Marta (Lilia Cabral, Looks & Essence'); the extramarital affair with Maria Isis (Marina Ruy Barbosa, Trail of Lies'); and the countless plot twists have made this telenovela an extremely captivating and engaging story. In Indonesia, it will be aired dubbed in the Bahasa language by pay TV channel VIVA, which belongs to the Dori Media Group a partner of Globo in several countries. Empire' will replace another Brazilian title, Trail of Lies.'

The romantic plot of Precious Pearl' takes place in the 1930's and 1940's, and features dazzling cinematic scenes shot in the Himalayas and at Globo Studios in Rio de Janeiro. Its impeccable period costumes and sets, which immediately transport the audience to a different time. These high-quality production elements, and especially the touching story, will thrill the audience of the premium channel Lasta, which will air the drama dubbed into Vietnamese.
