The AGENDA RECOMMIIONED BY ITV FOR IRD SERIES

THE AGENDA RECOMMISSIONED BY ITV FOR THIRD SERIESITV has commissioned a third series of discussion show The Agenda for the New Year, following a series that saw all three main Party leaders on the show.

The new 8x30 ITV1 series is fronted by ITV News Political Editor Tom Bradby and produced by ITN Productions. The format will be unchanged, with Tom Bradby and four studio guests discussing the coming week's agenda, from politics to popular culture. Filmed in front of a studio audience at The Hospital Club, discussion is interspersed with mini video packages to add humour and illustrate the show's talking points.

Guests in series two - which gained in ratings during the run and peaked at 1.3m viewers for the final episode - included David Cameron, Nick Clegg, Ed Miliband, Harriet Harman, Boris Johnson, William Hague, Hugh Grant, Patrick Stewart, Fiona Shaw and Mariella Frostrup. David Cameron's appearance marked the first time that a serving British Prime Minister had appeared on a panel show.

The Agenda ranged over dozens of topics - from tax avoidance to erotic literature and comments made on the show led the news agenda including Ed Miliband calling for an independent inquiry to the BBC on Jimmy Savile and William Hague giving his views on the Act of Succession.

The Agenda will tx on ITV1 from 28thJanuary on Monday nights following ITV News at Ten. It is commissioned by Ian Squires, Controller of Current Affairs & News Operations at ITV. Executive Producer is Chris Shaw, Editorial Director at ITN Productions. Series Producer is Natasha Shallice.

Ian Squires said: "The Agenda is a key part of the whole range of current affairs we offer on ITV. Tonight provides the regular weekly insight into matters that touch us all. Exposure has established itself in serious long form current affairs and now The Agenda gives us a well-informed, thoughtful and often witty commentary on events."

Chris Shaw said: The unrivalled level of guests and breadth of popular topics really upped the game for The Agenda in series two. The fact that we are trying something fresh and new, injecting some humour alongside serious discussion and each week featuring an equal gender balance of guests seems to be striking a chord with viewers."
