At Sky, we believe in better. Which is why we've committed to being net zero carbon by 2030, and this year we are proud to be a Principal Partner and Media Partner of COP26, the UN Climate Change Conference.
In this critical time for climate action, COP26 provides a vital platform for governments, individuals and business to come together and to build a better future. And in the months ahead of us gathering in Glasgow, business leaders must together set bold and ambitious environmental commitments that utilise our great strength - the ability to activate and deliver change.
We know we have a responsibility to use our reach and our voice to create positive change, with our television content and our products in the homes of millions of customers across Europe.
Since 2019 all our Sky Originals in the UK have been carbon neutral, but we can still go further to reduce our impact. That's why we have launched our Sustainable Production Principles, with clear guidelines to help all our productions lower emissions and achieve albert sustainable production certification.
We're also introducing a new Planet Test to ensure programme makers actively consider the environment and champion sustainability, both on screen and off; through storytelling and through production. This could be in powerful natural history documentaries, incidental behaviours from characters in our scripted dramas, or it could be Sky News' front-line reporting on climate issues that matter.
As we do all this, we'll be targeting albert sustainable production certification for all Sky Sports live host broadcasts in 2021 as well as sharing all of this best practice across news, sport and original entertainment, and with the rest of our industry through the BAFTA albert consortium.
And our ambition to make the new Sky Studios Elstree the world's most sustainable film and TV studio shows the strength of our commitment to become net zero carbon by 2030.
Through these actions and our partnership with COP26, we want to drive real change and drive it fast - because we are stronger together, and the world cannot wait.
