Ross Video @ IBC 2019: Important Updates to Production Switchers

Ottawa, Canada, September 13th 2019 - Production switchers have been a key part of Ross Video's solutions range since the foundation of the company, and Ross is pleased to announce the following updates to its range of switchers - arguably the most comprehensive, trusted and successful in the market today.

Carbonite Ultra V3.0

Carbonite is the world's best-selling midsize production switcher family and the latest V3.0 software for the Carbonite Ultra line includes a dedicated single-channel clip player for playout of compressed MPEG-4 AVC media directly from a connected USB-media drive. Users can load media clips of any length onto a USB or thumb drive, plug it in to Carbonite Ultra and playback those full clips as part of their production. The internal clip player can be assigned as a source on any bus in the switcher and playout is easily controlled from a dedicated DashBoard interface, Custom Controls, or AMP commands. No other competing production switcher offers this feature - it's a Ross exclusive!

When operating in UHD formats, Carbonite Ultra V3.0 provides bi-directional conversion between SDR and a variety of HDR formats such as HLG, PQ, and S-LOG3; as well as bi-directional WCG conversion (Rec.709 <> Rec.2020). With the combination of UHD and HDR/WCG support, Carbonite Ultra can deliver maximum-quality visuals to your audience.

Direct integration with the Ultritouch system control and monitoring panel is better than ever with Carbonite Ultra V3.0. When an Ultritouch is pointed at a Carbonite Ultra, a purpose-built menu layout is served up by the switcher which includes: Status, Bus Assignment, Custom Control Shotbox and more. Users still have the ability to create their own custom-programmed Ultritouch interfaces to streamline control of their show, but these native menu layouts make it much easier to plug-in and get started with Ultritouch and Carbonite Ultra.

Also new for IBC, Carbonite Ultra now offers more AMP controls directly from the panel including:

Clip list View and Recall

Cue and Play clips directly from clip list

Record, Jog, Shuttle, Fast Forward, Rewind & Loop Playback commands

This newly expanded set of AMP controls makes Carbonite Ultra an even better complement to our Tria Express, Tria , and Tria UHD production servers.

Acuity V9.1

The latest firmware update for Ross Video's flagship Acuity production switcher introduces direct integration with the Ultritouch facility monitoring and control panel from Ross, providing Ultritouch with a purpose-built AUX Bus routing control panel that centralizes router and switcher AUX control into a single interface.

V9.1 also expands TSL Version 5 messaging from Acuity to provide external control systems with a lot more information from the switcher. Control systems can now identify what sources, keyers, and buses are active allowing for more data analytics.

V9.1 also includes a number of features and functionality requests that have come in from customers using OverDrive - Ross Video's production automation platform - including independent ME still stores, improved display of attached Custom Controls via color schemes and the addition of support for Sony BRC-1000 and JVC PTZ cameras.

Finally, the latest V9.1 version adds more control over Lawo Ember audio consoles from Acuity, including audio gain control and advanced input control.

Graphite V2.3

A new software update for the Graphite integrated production system (comprising a real Carbonite switcher, real XPression graphics and the RAVE audio mixer) adds additional PC audio channels to the product, enabling customers to add a Dante or AES 67 virtual audio card to get Audio-over-IP into the system.
