Farncombe played leading role for development of Eutelsat KabelKiosk new Multiscreen Solution in Germany

ANGA COM, Cologne, June 4, 2013 Farncombe, a leading provider of specialist product strategy and technical consultancy to the global TV industry, today revealed its pivotal role in the extension of Eutelsat KabelKiosk's hybrid DVB & IP platform and the creation of its new ground-breaking multiscreen solution to be launched in Germany. Eutelsat KabelKiosk, the leading provider of ready-to-use TV products and services for network operators in Europe, is operated by Eutelsat Germany, a 100% subsidiary of Eutelsat S.A., one of the leading satellite operators in the world.

The extended hybrid platform and new multiscreen solution are designed to deliver linear pay-TV and non-linear TV services to cable network operators and their IPTV subscribers on managed networks, as well as supporting the secure distribution of that content to connected devices, including smartphones and tablets, inside the home, by leveraging OTT Secure Streaming solutions.

Eutelsat Germany initially engaged Farncombe in October 2012, to support the detailed product requirements for the extended hybrid DVB & IP platform and the multiscreen solution that led to its technical specification, and help with the vendor selection process. Subsequently, Farncombe played a leading role in the programme, and was made responsible for the system integration of the entire platform.

Eutelsat Germany's Managing Director Martina Rutenbeck said, Farncombe's understanding of the challenges involved in OTT delivery, from the core technology itself through to the complex issues of streaming secure content to multiple devices, proved critical to shaping this extended hybrid DVB & IP platform and they provided the expert system integration required to launch it.
