Emma Willis enters the world of midwifery in brand new series for W

Tuesday 3 April Emma Willis is to front brand-new documentary series, Emma Willis: Delivering Babies (6x60) for W, UKTVs premium entertainment channel.

The UKTV Original, made by Firecracker Films, follows Emma as she trains for three months on a busy maternity ward as a Maternity Care Assistant. Shell be working four shifts a week: day and night; alongside the nursing staff, where shell discover first-hand what makes it one of the toughest, but most rewarding careers you can have.

A key member of the midwifery team, alongside the other new recruits, Emma will be there for every intimate moment. As a trainee MCA, shell be responsible for admitting prospective parents into the ward, taking blood pressure and assisting in theatre and the birthing suits.

Nursing holds a special place in Emmas heart, as her mum used to work in a hospital for almost 40 years, making this a truly personal experience for her. Gaining a first-hand experience of what midwives working in the NHS currently face, Emma will see how different her life might have been had she followed in her Mums footsteps.

If I wasnt doing my current job I know for a fact that I would have loved to work in a hospital. Blood, guts and the workings of the human body have always fascinated me. Both my parents worked in hospitals and so its literally in my blood. I cant wait to dive right in and fully immerse myself in a busy maternity ward alongside the truly incredible midwives and nurses who work there day in day out.

Emma Willis: Delivering Babies is produced by Firecracker Films, commissioned for UKTV by Helen Nightingale, commissioning editor and ordered by Hilary Rosen, deputy director of commissioning and Steve North, genre general manager, comedy and entertainment.
