Founded in Ibiza in 1973, the international club brand Pacha has had a presence in Munich's city centre since 2000. As is the case for its other sites around the globe, the Munich venue regularly hosts world-famous DJs from the techno and house scene including Sven V th, Fat Boy Slim, DJ Hell, and Carl Cox. Naturally, given the club's status, it's audio system is of the utmost importance.
Munich-based TAPS Media GmbH has been responsible for Pacha's sound technology for two decades and was recently involved in an upgrade to the venue's system which relied on CODA Audio's HOPS (high output point source) range of loudspeakers.
The TAPS team led by managing directors Alexander Mayr and Manfred Heilmaier, installed a comprehensive system comprising 6 x HOPS12i-Pro three-way dual 12 units, 8 x HOPS8i two-way dual 8 , and 3 x G15-Sub compact 15 subwoofers. The system is driven by CODA Audio's own LINUS amplification.
Alexander Mayr explains his choice:
The loudspeakers deliver maximum output with the smallest dimensions and the lowest distortion. The HOPS12-Pro is clearly the best box on the double 12 market. The pressure and sound quality are exceptional, especially when you consider the compact size of the box. No other product can keep up!
Pacha Director Roman Lehmann has many years of event experience. As well as his duties at the club he also organises the legendary Greenfields techno festival, so is well-qualified to comment on the audio upgrade, and notes that after several weeks in operation the new system at Pacha Munich has more than proved its worth:
We are very satisfied. We are sure that we now have the best audio system in the city. CODA Audio hasn't been on my radar for long but I'm very impressed. Our guests feel at home with us and our artists are thrilled with the sound. Everything sounds clean, precise, and yet powerful. In short, the system creates a great clubbing experience and that's what matters!
