Cellnex acquires Alticom and consolidates its position in the Netherlands La red de emplazamientos de largo alcance de Alticom hospeda equipos de transmisi n inal mbrica de voz, datos y contenidos audiovisuales y complementa la red de 758 emplazamientos urbanos y rurales que Cellnex Netherlands ya gestiona hasta la fecha.
Cellnex Telecom ha cerrado la adquisici n a Infracapital del operador holand s de infraestructuras de telecomunicaciones, Alticom. La operaci n, que supone la integraci n de 30 nuevas torres y emplazamientos de largo alcance en todo el territorio de los Pa ses Bajos, alcanza los 133 millones de euros de inversi n que aportar n a Cellnex 11,5 millones de EBITDA en 2018.
La incorporaci n de Alticom refuerza y consolida la posici n de de Cellnex Telecom entre los operadores independientes de infraestructuras de telecomunicaciones que operan en Holanda. La red de emplazamientos de largo alcance (torres de gran altura y capacidad de alojamiento de equipos) de Alticom hospeda equipos de transmisi n inal mbrica de voz, datos y contenidos audiovisuales y complementa la red de 758 emplazamientos urbanos y rurales que Cellnex Netherlands ya gestiona hasta la fecha.
Por sus caracter sticas los emplazamientos de Alticom suponen un elemento clave en el futuro despliegue del 5G. Cuentan con capacidad -y conectividad al backbone' de fibra ptica- para albergar servidores remotos o cach ( caching servers ) que acerquen la capacidad de proceso de datos y almacenamiento a los usuarios finales de las aplicaciones basadas en el 5G, que van a multiplicar la demanda de tr fico y requerimientos de cada vez un mayor n mero de personas y objetos conectados: 50.000 millones en 2020.

Tob as Mart nez, consejero delegado de Cellnex, ha destacado que la adquisici n de los activos de Alticom en Holanda aporta consistencia y solidez a nuestra actividad en los Pa ses Bajos al incorporar un negocio recurrente, con flujos previsibles a medio y largo plazo, a la vez que supone una nueva apuesta, tras la adquisici n de CommsCon en Italia en 2016, por el ecosistema 5G en el que Cellnex est trabajando intensamente .
El 5G va a suponer una explosi n en t rminos de conectividad con crecimientos del tr fico de datos en movilidad del 600% en los pr ximos 5 a os (muy basado en la descarga de contenidos audiovisuales); una rapidez hasta 1.000 veces superior que la del 3G; y una latencia o velocidad de respuesta de hasta 1 milisegundo (100 veces inferior al 4G).
Una estrategia clave en el despliegue del 5G ser precisamente la de responder al reto tecnol gico de la latencia. La arquitectura de la red plantea ya necesidades como la reducci n de las celdas o zonas de cobertura que ser n atendidas con una red m s densa en base a sistemas distribuidos de antena (DAS) como los operados por CommsCon; y tambi n el del acercamiento de la capacidad de proceso, almacenamiento y conectividad a la fibra para los contenidos de banda ancha -algo conocido como caching servers (servidores remotos o cach )-, al receptor facilitando que se puedan obtener la rapidez y las velocidades de respuesta esperadas. Esto ltimo es precisamente una de las l neas de trabajo en las que Alticom dispone de experiencia y que va a sumar know how al ecosistema 5G de Cellnex , prosigue Mart nez.
Los emplazamientos de Alticom cubren radios de 15 km, lo cual les permite a su vez dar servicio y conectividad inal mbrica a pr cticamente el 60% de los emplazamientos y torres con menores radios de cobertura -hasta 15.200-, desplegados en Holanda.
El mercado holand s
El mercado holand s de infraestructuras para transmisi n de voz y datos en movilidad cuenta con cinco operadores independientes que gestionan un total de 1.500 emplazamientos, entre los que se encuentran los 758 que Cellnex gestiona ahora en el pa s y a los que se sumar n los 30 de Alticom. Estos emplazamientos complementan la red propia desplegada por las tres principales compa as de telefon a del pa s (KPN, TMobile y Vodafone), a las que se suma Tele2, que ofrece sus servicios nicamente en 4G. Holanda cuenta con un total de 15.200 emplazamientos en todo su territorio.
Holanda es uno de los pa ses europeos con una mayor penetraci n de la banda ancha m vil basada en el 4G y trabaja ya en el futuro despliegue del 5G. Una cobertura que, para los cuatro operadores de telefon a m vil presentes en el pa s, oscila entre el 92% y el 99%. Este despliegue se ha llevado a cabo, fundamentalmente, sobre la base de los emplazamientos ya existentes para el 2G y el 3G. Al igual que en la mayor a de pa ses europeos, la mejora de la cobertura para hacer realidad la experiencia del acceso en movilidad a contenidos de banda ancha en reas con gran n mero de usuarios simult neos constituye uno de los retos de futuro. En este sentido, una mayor densidad y capilaridad de red por medio del despliegue de las small cells y los sistemas distribuidos de antena (DAS en ingl s), junto con la capacidad para servir adecuadamente estos contenidos en t rminos de rapidez y latencia van a ser vectores del crecimiento en el mercado holand s de los servicios e infraestructuras de telecomunicaciones en los pr ximos a os.
