Manchester United v Liverpool: This is the biggest and best game to be involved in

Manchester United defender Luke Shaw says that caretaker manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is doing everything to keep the team on their toes ahead of the visit of their fiercest rivals Liverpool on Sunday.

Shaw described the fixture as the biggest and best game to be involved in' with extra spice added to the match by the possibility that United could derail Liverpool's title challenge.

Liverpool will arrive at Old Trafford knowing a point would send them back to the top of the table by the slenderest of margins. For Liverpool fans the opportunity to end Solskjaer's unbeaten start in domestic football is something that would sweeten an away win.

Shaw says the occasion has inspired great effort at training with all the players in the squad eager to be involved.

Speaking MUTV, Shaw Said: This is the biggest and best game to be involved in.

Of course, we know how well they've been doing and how big the rivalry is between the two clubs.

It's one that everyone wants to be involved in. It's always close to your thinking because of how big it is. It's a really exciting thing to think about.

Shaw has been stunned by the impact the positivity of the caretaker manager has made at the club who had been struggling under the dour back end of Jose Mourinho's tenure. Shaw also said that Solskjaer was capable of being critical but players always felt they deserved his ire.

It's just amazing to look at the job Ole has done since he came in, added Shaw. How much he has turned it around and how much the place is in a positive way now.

You know, Ole does it at the right time [shows another side to him]. He knows how good we can be and, if we're not up to his standards or the standards of Manchester United, he will certainly let you know.

We've had a few moments like that where we might have been comfortable in a game but got a bit sloppy. He's the manager and he tells the players what he wants. It's good and what we need sometimes, a kick up the backside from the manager, if we're getting too comfortable.

It keeps everyone on their toes but he's an amazing guy and a brilliant manager.

For Manchester United a win over Liverpool will guarantee they hold onto fourth place for the time being, quite something considering the position they were in at the turn of the year.
