Dive Into the PADI Evolution Contest

PADI and GoPro are joining forces to present the three-part Evolution Contest Series, which will run through October 2019. Whether it's by capturing a shot of a sunken ship in the local quarry or sharing an unforgettable turtle encounter and freedive over a vivid reef, divers have a shot at winning for their video and editing skills.

The first contest, dubbed CAPTURE, is open for entries April 15 to May 30. To enter, divers, who are at least 18 years old, are asked to simply capture and submit a RAW 1-minute-or-less video of an amazing underwater experience shot on GoPro.

The second contest tier, aptly called EDIT, is open July 1 to Aug. 15. EDIT asks divers to take their skills from an exotic bay to the editing bay and submit a one-minute edit of GoPro dive content provided by PADI. The content will be available on the PADI website starting July 1.

The final contest combines the first two tiers into one mega-challenge of CAPTURE/EDIT, which runs from Sept. 16 to Oct. 31. Here, divers are asked to create a one-minute edit using their original content.

The three contests are open to amateurs and pros alike. Each contest segment will be accompanied by video tips, tutorials and inspiration from GoPro ambassadors to provide divers with the knowledge to film and create engaging underwater videos.

Beyond just being fun, the contests provide divers a platform to further convey underwater experiences and perspectives across national borders and language barriers.
