Over the Edge with GoPro MAX

#ThrowbackThursday: There was a time in early November that we gathered a few of the GoPro Family members from around the globe to converge in San Francisco. Once we got them there, we politely asked them to rappel off one of the tallest skyscrapers in the city in an effort to raise money for the charitable organization, Outward Bound California.

Alongside other professional athletes, local leaders, celebrities and adventure enthusiasts, we sent the following victims (just kidding, they had fun; we promise!) to participate in the City Skyline Challenge. But first, being good hosts, we armed them with the recently launched GoPro MAX so they could capture the full experience in stunning 360 video.

We're throwing it back to Nov. 1 and revisiting the top content, a few notable moments and even some helpful 360 footage tips that came from the event. Perfect for anyone looking to rappel off a building like the Hilton San Francisco Union Square or elsewhere.

Hanging a few hundred feet in the air above SF is freeing and unsettling at the same time. I know everything is okay, but my brain keeps saying it's not. The last thing I want to think about is if my camera is getting the shot. Outward Bound and GoPro gave me the opportunity to break through personal barriers all while easily capturing every bit of the experience in brand new ways on the MAX.

Chase Reinford (a.k.a. a 2x Million Dollar Challenge Awardee)

I'm very impressed with the new Max! Not only is it more compact and lighter (which is very important to me) it also has more capabilities. I really did hate editing 360videos in the past, but the GoPro app makes it fast and painless, even enjoyable.

I rappelled down from the 46th floor of the Hilton San Francisco ... I freaked out, as you can clearly see in the clip! But it was for such a fantastic cause, Outward Bound California, where they offer these sorts of activities to youths, encouraging them to step outside of their comfort zones ... well I definitely stepped outside of mine! You can hear Jake and I screaming the whole way down-legs felt like jelly and my knuckles were white from gripping the rope so hard!

So glad I had GoPro MAX on my head because I could see the view afterward! I don't think I looked down once-GOOD TIMES!

I never imagined that one day I would rappel down a 48-story building! I can't even begin to share the adrenaline I felt-wow. Thank you to GoPro and Outward Bound California for an experience that just reminds me that life is one big and risk is always worth it. I share the video I took with the new GoPro MAX so you can imagine what I felt.
