KwaZulu-Natal Film Commission attends Cannes Film Festival 2015 13 24 May 2015

In its second year of operations The KwaZulu-Natal Film Commission (KZNFC) will attend the Cannes Film Festival 2015. As an official partner at the South African pavilion in partnership with the National Film and Video Foundation, the KZNFC announces its line-up of events for the festival.

The KZNFC will be an official partner of the Producers Network in the Marche Du Film and will have a trade delegation of 7 Filmmakers, two of which will attend the festival under the Dti Emea programme co-ordinated by the Association for Transformation in Film and Television, South Africa. KZNFC will take a media partner from KwaZulu-Natal to the festival as a way of bringing the festival to the people of KwaZulu-Natal. The KZNFC is therefore proud to announce that they will partner with Gagasi FM during the festival and will broadcast live from the South African village within the International Pavilion at the Marche du Film in Cannes. Gagasi FM is the only commercial radio station in the province that caters for both the provinces languages, IsiZulu and English. The partnership includes DJ Zookey Zarling's attendance at the film festival and live crossings in real time. This partnership will assist the people of the province to understanding why KZNFC attends these platforms and how the province stands to benefit from a trade mission of this nature. KwaZulu-Natal producers will be presented with an opportunity to give real time feedback on how their participation on this platform has and will assist in transforming their career in film.

The Cannes Film Festival is the most prestigious film festival on the international film festival calendar. It is attended by the most influential role players in the industry. The KZNFC'S partnership with the NFVF will see it jointly hosting the South African Film Showcase, South African co-production forums and the prestigious South African networking function attended by filmmakers from around the world. A sought after event at the festival.

KZN Film Commission strives to give support to KwaZulu-Natal emerging businesses within the film industry in particular to previously disadvantaged individuals, via platforms such as markets and festivals amongst other programmes.
