EMG consolidates RF services under one brand

Broadcast service provider EMG is uniting all of its RF services, including Eurolinx, Broadcast RF and EMG France's RF activities, under a new business unit called EMG Connectivity.

Between them, the company's RF specialists work across more than 1,500 RF events per year, said EMG, including the Tour de France, Olympics, FIFA World Cup, Love Island and the BAFTAs.

The new business unit will be led by Bruno Gallais (managing director EMG Connectivity) who will hold the role alongside his work as CEO of EMG France.

Gallais will be joined in the management team by Mark Houghton who will lead the UK business as well as acting as innovation director for EMG Connectivity. From France, Rudy Dendleux will be the technical director while Chris Brandrick.

EMG said the new unit will employ a team of around 80. Its wireless broadcast solutions will include:

10 operational RF vehicles

300 RF links, of which 175 are HEVC (UHD/HDR capable)

35 BMW motorbikes and access to multiple electric motorbikes

5 equipped relay airplanes, of which 4 with pressurised cabins

The ability to deploy 25 EASA airworthy RF helicopters

20 bonded cellular 4G/5G systems

Speaking about the move, Shaun Gregory, group CEO EMG, said: EMG brings the world's biggest events to billions of viewers through our connectivity services.
