RTS VLink supports LINNC training course in world-famous Louvre

The Live Interventional Neuroradiology & Neurosurgery Course (LINNC) is a trusted online reference source for the entire Interventional NeuroRadiology and NeuroSurgery community worldwide. The training courses for attendants include both lectures and live case transmissions from all over the world as well as audiovisual presentations, question and answer sessions and round table discussions. For this years Paris event, the organizers picked one of the most renowned locations worldwide: The world-famous Louvre. Toulouse-based French PA/intercom specialist Concept Sonore Evnement (CSE) was charged with all audiovisual aspects of this meeting.

During an event like this, the intercom constitutes the very heart of the system, says CSEs CEO Luc Filaretos. As physicians and guest speakers at events like this usually dont have any detailed technical experience, the system must be easy to use. At the same time, we require reliable equipment. That is why we trust in our RTS equipment and have done so for years. The heart of the system was an RTS Cronus with 32 ports, linked to five KP-32-CLD, five KP-32-16, one KP-12 and three DKP-16-CLD keypanels. The latter were used by both CSEs technical staff and the LINNC chairmen.

In order to even more facilitate the physicians need for easy-to-use but nevertheless complex intercom panels, CSE introduced a novelty in 2013. As interactive, virtual keypanels, CSE used iPads, iPhones as well as Android tablets and phones with RTSs VLink app. Compatible with PC or Mac and optimized for use with mobile devices, the VLink Virtual Matrix software enables remote users to interface with RTS matrix intercoms via the Internet using a simple application, allowing an unprecedented degree of control and flexibility from anywhere in the world. VLink also supports SIP to provide enhanced connectivity. LINNCs VLink system at the Louvre was trunked to the RTS Cronus matrix via four trunklines and a RTS Trunkmaster MTM-2000.

This was a bit of a challenge, as V-LINK was totally new to us, comments Luc Filaretos. We were a little anxious if VLink would be complicated to set up and how it would work in an IT environment. But we neednt have worried! RTS and their French distributor Pilote Films were great in delivering us a preconfigured and ready-to-go VLink system including the trunk settings. The connection with the Louvre network was instant and seamless. Configuring the keypanels via VLink was as easy as with a physical matrix Cronus and AZedit. The incredible thing was that the iPad, laptop or tablet to be programmed can be thousands of kilometers away. At LINNC Louvre event, the VLink system was connected to one iPad via Wi-Fi and one Galaxy Note in 3G, an iPhone located in a hospital outside of Paris in 3G, and one iPhone in Wi-Fi on CSEs private network in Toulouse (for tech back-up).

The result amazed CSEs Luc Filaretos: Its just magic to use! For us, VLink is the most powerful and elaborated intelligent wireless intercom system you can imagine. Directors and tech chiefs can join assistants, LINNC chairmen can join correspondents and stage staff. Wherever they are on site, they just need a mobile phone or a tablet. Furthermore, there will be no need for 4-wire connections for analog and ISDN telephone interfaces. Instead, an ADSL connection together with a fixe IP address on site will do the job perfectly.
