Hemudu Town Becomes Demonstration Area for Aco-agriculture Standard Construction

Recently, approved by the Leader Group of Ningbo Municipal Agricultural Standardization Work, Hemudu Town became a demonstration town for eco-agricultural standard construction, the first of its kind in Ningbo.

Various terrain types guarantee the diversity and richness of resources of Hemudu Town. In recent years, to promote the industrialization, specialization, standardization and modernization of agriculture, the town has invested a large amount of finance and material to speed up the construction of demonstration town for eco-agricultural standardization, and has achieved remarkable results.

Focusing on the construction of the base and giving full play to the standard demonstration role of the base are the starting point of the eco-agricultural standard construction. On the one hand, to meet the needs for the large-scale and market-oriented development of zizania industry, the town started to construct in Lushan Temple Village the 1000-mu "Hemudu zizania plantation" , a state-level standard agricultural demonstration zone, with the special zizania cooperatives as carriers. By 2011, there had been 60 mu of facility cultivation area, 200 mu of eco-farming area, 10 mu of quality zizania seed resource area, and 730 mu new technology demonstration area, which has greatly promoted the large-scale planting, standard production, commodity processing, brand sales and industrialized operation of zizania production by improving the quality benefits of the zizania industry and the model effect to the local farmers. On the other hand, the demonstration project for "10,000 yuan value per mu" was carried out, based on the existing three cooperatives. By promoting the zizania (rice) field-turtles and zizania (rice) field-loaches co-breeding modes, and based on the Zhejiang University standard cultivation mode, the Hemudu double-season standard cultivation mode and the Hemudu double-season pollution-free cultivation mode, the town achieved the goal of the 10,000 yuan yield value per mu, and the planting area of zizania reached 2500 mu in 2013.

The town attaches great importance to the cultivation of leading enterprises to promote the standard administration. In the principle of "government guiding and enterprises implementing", the town encouraged the agricultural enterprises to expand investment in fund and technology, and thus improving the radiation power of the leading agricultural enterprises. So far, the Agricultural Comprehensive Development Co. Ltd. has invested more than 42.5 million yuan in the construction of the industrial base and improvement of the farmland and watering facilities. In accordance with the overall mentality of "developing, regulating and improving", and the principle of win-win cooperation and standard improvement, the town has strengthened the standard construction of the specialized households of crop or animal and that of the cooperatives, to enhance their competitiveness, service ability, and ability to stand the market risks.

The construction of the demonstration town for eco-agricultural standardization has not only greatly improved the output rate of farmlands, the application rate of agricultural technology, the conversion rate of agricultural achievements and the standardization of eco-agriculture, but also promoted the industrial characteristics of the eco-agriculture of the town. So far, there have been one 10,000-mu quality zizania base, seven pollution-free agricultural produce bases and one green food base.
