Internet plus promotes new evening markets

How to promote the "consumption engine"? Ningbo finds the answer in a new style urban economy, that is, to develop the "moonlight economy" by means of such innovative elements as the modern services industry and internet plus. In the first half of the year, Ningbo witnessed a 42% growth of large-scale service industries, ranking No.1 in Zhejiang Province, with a total social consumption retail volume of 149.02 billion yuan, and an increase of over 30% in evening consumption. The "moonlight economy" has become a new engine for Ningbos consumption growth.

According to Yang Maoying, Deputy-director of Ningbo Commerce Commission and Director of Ningbo Moonlight Economy Office, since Ningbo launched the "moonlight economy" in 2014, it has bloomed. In the first half of the year, the total evening consumption exceeded 36 billion yuan, and the consumption increase of such major blocks as Tianyi Square and the Old Bund reached 40%.

So far, Ningbo has formed a "moonlight economy" layout featuring the ten major evening market blocks including Tianyi Square shopping circle and the Old Bund area. All the blocks have actively developed their advantages based on their own resources. The Old Bund area has been built as the first national urban central leisure zone in Ningbo with the guidance of the government and the support of private investment. The Drum Tower area has focused on the block construction and cultural development, on the basis of such folk resources as the ancient opera stage, the ancient education office and the Yongfeng Storehouse. Xikou Town of Fenghua County has accelerated it tourism transformation and upgrading by means of capital introduction and cooperative development, and has attracted tourists with its new-style cottages and saloon cars.

The catering industry and stores and supermarkets have also benefited from the evening market with the "internet + business blocks" model. The "wonderful Tianyi Square" net has such functions as membership services and shopping guide. The newly developed smart Wifi system can provide data analysis, locating and enterprise marketing functions besides the quality network service.

So far, Ningbo has accumulatively invested over 20 million yuan in the landscape lighting of major blocks, and the Moonlight Economy Office has solved over 70 problems concerning block construction and project construction in cooperation with related departments.
