
The Festival of Gijon pays homage to great names of Spanish cinema En su 50 edici n, el festival homenajea a Vicente Aranda, Carmelo G mez y Carmen Fr as en una gala de apertura que clausur el realizador franc s Patrice Leconte con el estren su ltimo trabajo A promise'.
Festival Internacional de Cine de Gij n puso en marcha su 51 edici n con una gala que conducida por la presentadora In s Paz, rindi homenaje a tres de los nombres m s destacados del panorama cinematogr fico espa ol; el realizador Vicente Aranda distinguido con el Premio Honor fico, el actor Carmelo G mez que recibi el Premio Nacho Mart nez y la montadora Carmen Fr as a la que se le otorg el Premio Mujer de Cine.
La gala que se celebr en el emblem tico teatro Jovellanos, lleno para la ocasi n, inici con la interpretaci n por parte de la banda de m sica del FICX de la canci n compuesta expresamente para el festival por Juan Lu s Su rez, guitarrista de El Sue o de Morfeo. Who ha dado paso a la asturiana In s Paz que ha mostrado su desparpajo sobre las tablas ante un p blico vido de cine.
El primer homenaje de la noche fue para Carmen Fr as, montadora de pel culas tan destacadas como The dream of the mad monkey o Belle Epoque. Fr as cont con el calor de algunos compa eros de profesi n en el escenario; Fernando Trueba, Fernando M ndez-Leite, Patricia Ferreira, Cecilia Bartolom y su hermana Berta se ocuparon de ir desgranado la naturaleza de esta trabajadora excepcional; es una maestra en tener en la cabeza la pel cula que un director quiere hacer comentaba Ferreira mientras narraba una de sus experiencias con la homenajeada, no consiste en ir probando, es tener en la cabeza el ritmo de la secuencia, los planos afirmaba Ferreira emulando las palabras que Fr as le dijo la primera vez que trabajaron juntas.
Tras el homenaje, la gala virar a hacia la programaci n del festival, destacando la notoria presencia de cine asturiano en la edici n de este a o en la que no s lo se presenta el D a d'Asturies sino que tambi n est Gran Angular Asturiano, secci n a competici n, formada por 10 largometrajes. Las retrospectivas son otro de los platos fuertes del certamen. En esta edici n el director coreano Hong Sang-soo y el franc s Jean Fran ois Laguionie tendr n un ciclo dedicado a su obra. Mientras que Hong Sang-soo se encargar de cerrar el FICX, Laguionie no quiso perderse la inauguraci n, mostrando al p blico la misma ilusi n que el primer d a a pesar de sus m s de 40 a os de carrera, tal es as que estoy ya trabajando en una nueva pel cula anunciaba el galo.
Llegaba el turno de otro de los homenajeados, era el momento del gran interprete Carmelo G mez para quien su amigo Loquillo, que le entreg el galard n Nacho Mart nez s lo ten a elogios. Carmelo, ganador de dos premios Goya por D as Contados y El M todo y con m s de medio centenar de papeles entre cine, televisi n y teatro, hizo gala de su simpat a y naturalidad pero en su discurso tambi n hubo hueco para el tributo a los mineros fallecidos hace pocas semanas en Le n, mineros que quedaron ahora sepultados por el olvido conclu a G mez.
La programaci n retomaba el protagonismo de la noche y era el momento de las secciones principales del certamen: AnimaFICX y Secci n Oficial albergan algunos de los t tulos m s destacados de la cinematograf a mundial en el ltimo a o y para discernir sus ganadores, se presentaban ante el p blico sus jurados.
En una escenograf a dominada por el elefante dise ado por Isidro Ferrer como cartel de esta edici n, el jurado de secci n oficial formado por Pablo Giorgelli, Ray Loriga, Iv n Trujillo, Aida Folch y Patrice Leconte tomaba la palabra en boca de la actriz espa ola. Aida agradec a la confianza y se compromet a en nombre de los cinco miembros a trabajar duro para hacer disfrutar del cine a todos los espectadores que acudan a las salas.
Se acercaba el final de la gala y llegaba uno de los momentos m s especiales de la noche, sobre el escenario, Victoria Abril y Jorge Sanz, protagonistas de Amantes, una de las obras cumbre de Vicente Aranda, Premio Homenaje del Festival Internacional de Cine de Gij n. El realizador catal n se reun a una vez m s sobre un escenario con estos dos actores, m s de 20 a os despu s de la cinta por la que obtuvo el premio Goya a la mejor direcci n. Abril lo reconoc a como mi fundador, mi padre, mi maestro, mi faro es el nico que ha confiado en mi desde el principio hasta el fin , una dupla que ha compartido m s de una docena de pel culas y 30 a os de carrera junta.
Una noche de emociones intensas y grandes nombres del s ptimo arte que no pod a encontrar mejor broche de oro que el estreno del ltimo trabajo de Patrice Leconte, el presidente del jurado y autor de obras tan recordadas como El marido de la peluquera, presentaba A promise. Un acontecimiento importante para el director franc s ya que se estrena en Gij n meses antes del estreno comercial en su pa s natal. La pel cula es un drama en los albores de la Primera Guerra Mundial que presenta emociones muy fuertes seg n Leconte. El festival le concedi adem s la menci n especial AnimaFICX con la que fue distinguido el pasado a o.
