L3Harris has been included in the 2021 Disability Equality Index (DEI) and recognized as one of the Best Places to Work for Disability Inclusion. The DEI is the nation's most comprehensive annual benchmarking tool, facilitated by leading not-for-profit organizations Disability:IN and the American Association of People with Disabilities. It serves as a roadmap of measurable, tangible actions companies can take to achieve disability inclusion and equality.
L3Harris was selected as a top DEI company for scoring above the global threshold established by Disability:IN. This reflects a high level of overall performance across the index's five pillars: company culture and leadership, enterprise-wide access, employment practices, community engagement and supplier diversity.
Companies included in the 2021 DEI have provided a comprehensive look at how they advance disability inclusion across their businesses. In the past year, L3Harris has taken the following actions both at work and in the community to support disability inclusion:
Expanded focus on diversity and inclusion through its CEO-led Diversity Council, which includes disability-focused Employee Resource Group, Willing & Able
Celebrated Disability Awareness Month in October by spotlighting employees' achievements in articles, photo galleries and on social media
Hosted bi-weekly stressbusting sessions to help employees reduce anxiety and burnout through a variety of stress-reducing and relaxation techniques, such as guided meditation, breathwork and sound healing
Hosted lunch and learns addressing Mental Health and Suicide Prevention in the Workplace with the Utah Division of Substance Abuse and Mental Health (DSAMH)
Began offering counseling to all U.S. employees through Talkspace
Audited our company website for WCAG 2.1 AA level compliance, which ensures our content is accessible to people with a wide range of disabilities, including visual, auditory, physical, speech, cognitive, language, learning and neurological disabilities
Granted over $40,000 to the Disabled Rights Action Committee in Salt Lake City, Utah and GiGi's Playhouse in Rochester, New York as part of our Social Impact Grant. This grant was used to provide personal protective equipment (PPE) to individuals with disabilities impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Globally, there are more than one billion people with disabilities. A natural part of the human experience, disabilities cross lines of age, ethnicity, gender, gender identity, race, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status and religion. According to the Center for Talent Innovation, one in three professionals in the workplace are estimated to have a visible or invisible disability. However, less than 3% of employees report their disability due to fear of negative bias.
L3Harris is focused on creating a more inclusive environment for people with disabilities. As of 2020, 6% of L3Harris employees self-identify as having a disability.
