AMPS (e Aociation of Motion Picture Sound) Nominations For rd Annual AMPS Film Sound Awards

AMPS (The Association of Motion Picture Sound) has recently announced the list of nominations for their 3rd annual award for Excellence in Sound for a Feature Film.

Five films exhibited in 2015 were selected by an AMPS Awards Committee, from which leading sound crew members (Production Sound, Sound Editing and Re-Recording) were nominated for the award.

The full list of nominees are -

Star Wars - The Force Awakens Stuart Wilson - Production Sound Mixer Matthew Wood - Supervising Sound Editor/Sound Designer Andy Nelson - Re-recording Mixer

Stuart Wilson, Production Sound Mixer on Spectre and Star Wars - The Force Awakens said, To receive an AMPS Award nomination is a very special honour for me because it is selected by some of the finest sound professionals working today. I'm delighted, many thanks to the membership and to my team whose hard work has helped make it an incredible two in the same year!

Chair of the AMPS Film Award Committee Chris Munro commented, AMPS membership is made up of professionals who represent the sound for moving image' industry and therefore have a direct and educated insight into audio for film and TV. This expertise is often born out by later industry nominations. Congratulations and good luck to all our nominees.

The Association of Motion Picture Sound (AMPS) is a craft guild made up of over 450 of the most imaginative and highly experienced people working in film and television sound. Our members have been nominated for many awards both in the UK and internationally and include many BAFTA, Oscar, Emmy, and MPSE winners.

Based in the UK, AMPS was founded in 1989 with the aim of creating an organisation where those engaged in motion picture and television sound could exchange information, solve common problems and keep abreast of rapidly changing technology. Since then we have grown to include technical demonstrations, talks by prominent figures, networking, film screenings, mentoring, training and UK wide social events in a busy programme of activities. The AMPS awards, inaugurated to mark our 25th anniversary in 2014, are presented for excellence in sound and are gaining increasing significance on the world stage.
