Magyar Telekom approved a three year Equality of Chances Plan

Magyar Telekom and interest representation groups of the employees approved the company's second Equality of Chances Plan, this time for three years. Concerning the period of 2013-2015 the document entails the equality of chances principles of the company, and outlines the employment of different challenged groups.

The objective of the actions is to respect the principle of equal treatment, promoting equality of chances, monitoring and improving the employment position of certain employee groups, and to further strengthen the commitment of employees for equality of chances.

In the document effective of January 1, further to the earlier version which dealt with issues related to women, associates with families (especially with large families, raising children or handicapped children alone, caring for constantly ill family members), associates on absent leave for reasons of raising children, associates with handicap or living under challenging circumstances and equality of chances two new target groups were also defined: freshmen out of the education institutions starting their professional career and employees over the age of 50.

The document prepared jointly with interest groups representing employees was signed by Christopher Mattheisen chairman and CEO and va Somorjai chief human resources officer on behalf of Magyar Telekom, by Tams Lichnovszky, chairman of the Central Shopfloor Council, by Attila Bujdos, chairman of the Telecommunication Trade Union and Lajos Szatmri, acting chairman of the T-Net trade union.

We have successfully executed our commitments planned in previous years related to career chances of women, striking the balance between family and workplace, improving possibilities to return to work after child care, and we take clear actions to increase employment possibilities for associates living with handicap. Among others, this responsible approach and way of thinking earned us the Best Employer award in 2012 already for the second time. From 2013 we shall attach special importance to improving the corporate health conditions, as well as to special needs of female corporate managers and different age groups. If possible, even more emphasis will be put on communicating our aspirations for equality of chances towards our associates, raising their awareness, helping then to understand and follow these objectives said va Somorjai, chief human resources officer.

Magyar Telekom's efforts to act as responsible employer have already earned the company numerous recognitions: in 2008 the Family Friendly Employer award, in 2010 the HR Oscar Award founded by the Hungarian association of HR Advisors and the Golden Bridge award recognising the HR Team of the Year, in 2009 the Best Hungarian Employer title and in 2010 the company also won the Best Central Eastern European Employer title. Magyar Telekom also holds the Healthy Workplace 2009 award offered by the American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham).
