5G Forum advances 6G keys by Peter Stuckmann (European Commission) En el marco del 5G Forum Virtual, Peter Stuckmann, responsable de la unidad de conectividades futuras de la European Commission, ha adelantado las l neas principales que definir n el 6G. Stuckmann ha remarcado que la investigaci n y el trabajo sobre la conectividad 6G ya es una realidad. Todas las regiones globales est n comenzando a invertir en estas iniciativas , ha asegurado. Pa ses como Finlandia o China llevan trabajando en proyectos independientes desde 2019, sigui ndoles en 2020 Jap n, Corea o la UE, que ya ha comenzado a fijar las bases para la tecnolog a.
A nivel europeo, se prev invertir un total de 900 millones de euros de dinero p blico para fomentar este tipo de desarrollos, canalizados en gran medida por la iniciativa Smart Networks and Services Joint Undertaking. Se prev que esta cantidad sea igualada por aportaciones del sector privado.
Dimensiones del 6G A falta de conocer cu les son las aplicaciones definitivas del 6G, grupos de investigaciones globales han definido un total de seis campos que ser n potenciados: nuevas aplicaciones de realidad extendida, que girar n entorno a las comunicaciones hologr ficas, el internet de los sentidos y las comunicaciones entre m quinas masivas; artificial intelligence, automatizada e interconectada; eficiencia energ tica, que se situar en niveles de consumo ultra bajos ; casos de uso verticales marcados por la capacidad, alta velocidad y densidad de dispositivos; alta seguridad de redes y sistemas; y desarrollo sostenible, con el foco puesto en el acceso global a la tecnolog a y el cambio clim tico.
Esta visi n de lo que ser el 6G, que ya est siendo estudiada por la European Commission, es ejemplificada por Stuckmann con casos como la utilizaci n de robots (cobots) que colaborar n con humanos o con el concepto intelligence everywhere, que implica la ultraconectividad en la nube.
Meta: 2030 El estudio del 6G todav a est en su fase inicial. Los primeros pasos efectivos se dar n en 2023 y 2024, con la comercializaci n fijada para 2030.
Stuckmann tiene puestas grandes esperanzas en esta tecnolog a y conf a en que Europa va a volver a ser nodo de liderazgo. Si bien Espa a lider a nivel europeo el estudio del 5G, a d a de hoy Alemania y Francia est n encabezando la investigaci n de esta sexta generaci n.
Dirigi ndose a aquellas empresas interesadas en formar parte de esta aventura, Stuckmann ha apuntado que en verano de 2021 llegar n las primeras llamadas a la acci n para el mundo 6G.
Estado del 5G en Europa Antes de centrarse en el 6G, Stuckmann actualiz sobre el estado de la implantaci n del 5G en la Uni n Europea.
Si bien valor como un xito el lanzamiento comercial coordinado del 5G a finales de 2020, reconoce que hay un retraso en la asignaci n de las frecuencias. Concretamente, a d a de hoy, tan solo se han asignado el 50% de las disponibles, lo que ha llevado a la Comisi n Europea a contactar con estados miembros para seguir desarrollando este mbito.
La mirada de Stuckmann y sus compa eros en la comisi n ahora est fijada en 2025, cuando se pretende que todas las v as de transportes y reas urbanas adquieran cobertura 5G. El objetivo final es que todas las reas pobladas tengan cobertura 5G en 2030.
Para conseguir este objetivo, el responsable de rea conf a en la influencia de proyectos europeos en marcha (5G Cyber Security Toolbox, Open RAN), as como la correcta aplicaci n de los fondos de recuperaci n europeos covid, cuyo 20% est n destinados al mbito digital.
