John Honeycutt (pictured), chief technology officer for Discovery Communications, has been announced as the latest speaker at Next TV Summit London to be held at London's BAFTA on 11 June.
Keynote Honeycutt will discuss competition for quality content, consolidation of broadcasting group ownership and VoD opportunities during his session.
As CTO, Honeycutt leads Discovery Communications' consolidated IT, media technology, production and operations functions globally. He is charged with developing a long-term technology strategy to enable Discovery's growing pay TV, digital terrestrial, free-to-air and online services.
An 11-year Discovery veteran, Honeycutt most recently served as executive vice president and chief operating officer for Discovery Networks International (DNI), where he led the operational structure of Discovery's growing international business operations across more than 220 countries and territories.
Honeycutt led the ongoing expansion of Discovery's international operations with the 2013 acquisition of SBS Nordics, a top-three portfolio of television brands across Denmark, Norway, Sweden and Finland.
Before joining Discovery in 2003, he served as senior vice president of Broadcast Operations for Fox Cable Networks in Los Angeles.
Other high profile speakers at Next TV Summit London include Dan Biddle, head of Broadcast Partnerships, Twitter and Michael Comish, chief digital officer, Tesco Group.
The summit will offer panel discussions and keynote presentations with sessions covering multiscreen versus pure OTT, the rising cost of premium content and the popularity of reality programming for online and OTT providers, plus much more.
Delegates can listen to topics such as social media and how technology is advancing the quality of TV, IPTV and the OTT viewer experience. There are also several networking opportunities throughout the day during coffee breaks, lunch and at the evening cocktail party.
