MAY 21, 2013 (Exton, PA) The SCTE Foundation today announced that five senior executives representing leading operators and vendors within the cable telecommunications industry have been selected as new members of the organization's Board of Directors.

The five new members, all of whom have established themselves as thought leaders dedicated to the growth of the industry, are:

John Civiletto, Vice President, Strategic Architecture, Cox Communications;

Dr. Vish Nandlall, CTO and head of Marketing & Strategy, Ericsson North America;

Mark Palazzo, Vice President and General Manager, Cable Access Business Unit, Cisco;

Bill Warga, Vice President, Technology, Liberty Global Inc.; and

Drew Zogby, President and COO, Alpha Technologies.

The addition of the five new board members is the latest step in the continued growth of the SCTE Foundation. At SCTE Cable-Tec Expo 2012, the Foundation announced initial results of a landmark and ongoing "Advancing Cable Excellence" fundraising campaign that now has raised $1 million from corporations and individuals who share an interest in advancing the career of cable technology professionals.

"The commitments of time and financial resources are vital to helping the SCTE Foundation fulfill its mission," said Tony Werner, executive vice president and CTO of Comcast Cable and president of the SCTE Foundation Board of Directors. "We're grateful to our new and existing Board members for their willingness to drive new opportunities for current cable technology professionals and to help attract new talent from underrepresented areas."

In addition to Werner and the five new members, the SCTE Foundation Board comprises:

Jim Hughes, Executive Vice President, Broadband Sales & Marketing, CommScope and SCTE Foundation Board Vice President;

Ed Marchetti, Senior Vice President of Engineering/Operations, Comcast Cable Communications and SCTE Foundation Board Treasurer;

Tom Gorman, President, opXL and SCTE Foundation Board Secretary;

Julian Brodsky, Co-Founder and Director Emeritus, Comcast Corporation;

Mark Dzuban, President and CEO, Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers (SCTE);

Marwan Fawaz, Executive Vice President, Motorola Home;

Bob Gold, Principal, Bob Gold & Associates;

Keith Hayes, Senior Vice President, Network Operations, Charter Communications;

Mike LaJoie, Executive Vice President and Chief Technology and Network Operations Officer, Time Warner Cable; and

Ken Wright, Cable Technology Advisor, Wright Solutions.

Established in 2005, the SCTE Foundation is intended to increase the technical, business and leadership skills of the telecommunications engineering workforce, attract and recruit women and minorities into engineering careers, and position the telecommunications industry as a desirable career opportunity for aspiring young people in the early stages of their careers.
