Today, Netflix announced Bytet, a limited four-part thriller series based on best-selling crime author Stefan Ahnhem's novel of the same name.

Set against the stunning backdrops of Stockholm's archipelago and sun-drenched Sicily, two couples agree to a holiday home swap in a last-ditch effort to save their marriages. But their hopes of rekindling their relationships quickly unravel. As secrets emerge and hidden betrayals come to light, what began as a romantic getaway turns into a tense and dangerous game where no one can be trusted.

A stellar ensemble cast - featuring Emma Appleton (Extraction), Fares Fares (Chernobyl, Eagles of the Republic), Frida Gustavsson (Faithless, Vikings: Valhalla) and Jakob Oftebro (The Case, Stenbeck) - leads this gripping psychological thriller series set to launch globally on Netflix in 2026.

Author, Stefan Ahnhem says: Though Ive worked as a screenwriter for twenty years, this is a dream come true. Actually, a dream even better than I dared to dream. With this stellar cast, compelling script and the power of Netflix, Im confident that my novel will come alive on the screen as the sharp and intricate psychological thriller so many of us are longing for"

The production for the series has just wrapped filming in Sweden and on Sicily

ABOUT BYTET

Synopsis: In an effort to save their marriages, Stockholm-based Carl (Fares Fares) and Helene (Frida Gustavsson) arrange a holiday-house swap with Adam (Jakob Oftebro) and Scarlett (Emma Appleton), who live in Sicily. But upon arriving at their new exclusive home, Carl and Helene start to sense that something feels off. The house doesnt quite match the pictures of the romantic villa, and unsettling questions arise about the strangers now living in their home. Who are these people theyve traded homes with? Meanwhile, Adam and Scarlett move into Carl and Helenes house in Stockholm's archipelago, a stunning, modern architectural dream. But despite its beauty, things feel awkward. Why are the neighbours so nosy? Why is the walk-in closet locked? As both couples try to reconnect amidst growing suspicions, dark secrets begin to surface.
